Jess is the Managing Director and Founder of Scholastic Marching Arts, and a proud alumnus of The University of Northern Colorado. GO BEARS!
Most recently, JessiIs working with Colorado Percussion programs in six Colorado School Districts including Littleton, air Academy Academy D20, Elizabeth, Douglas County, Florence, and Adams Five Star Schools.
In the past, he has also worked with Lewis-Palmer, St. Vrain, Cheyenne Mountain, and Colorado Springs D11. Jess is in demand as a judge, performer, and clinician. Since arriving in Denver in 2002, he has been the Percussion Director at "The Pride of Littleton" Marching Band at Littleton High School, "The Pride of the Lancers" at Liberty High School, The Classical Academy "Titan Marching Band,” and with Mountain Ridge Middle School in ASD 20, Creekside Middle School in Lewis-Palmer Schools and several others. His groups have either performed or he has presented at CMEA a half dozen times since 2002.
His programs have earned many awards and his ensembles have medaled at the Colorado Bandmasters Association more than a dozen times and won several State Championships. He has a thriving private studio, and since 2010, his students have earned 60+ chairs in the Colorado All-State Band plus dozens of chairs in other State and All-city honor bands each year.
His present and past students have performed with Virginia Tech, Liberty University Winter, CU Boulder, Colorado State, Northern Colorado, Arizona State, Minnesota, Oregon, Washington, Oregon State, Rice, Baylor, North Texas, Seattle Cascades, Blue Knights, The Troopers, Blue Knights Percussion Ensemble, and Rise Percussion. Many have earned hefty music scholarships, and others are pro musicians currently touring with emerging artists.
As a performer, Jess has had notable appearances with Bernadette Peters, Bette Midler, John Denver, and Doc Severinsen.
Jess is a consultant to the audio-video manufacturing industry and is a dynamic and motivational public speaker and teacher. He is comfortable with both large and small groups and has worked in corporate environments as a Product Training Manager, Product Development Specialist, Sales Trainer, Account Manager, National Sales Manager, and Design & Trade Show Representative.His experience includes Yamaha, Infinity, Acoustic Research, Advent, Alpine, Jensen, NHT Loudspeakers, and Sony. Through these experiences, Jess has learned to connect with virtually anyone. This experience helps your program spend your budgets wisely, and Jess is skilled at negotiating prices with vendors and manufacturers. He will motivate your students to get better, and concentrate on what matters.
Jess is skilled at building strong programs, assembling and managing great teams, giving total experience to students, and getting great results FAST. He is always looking to the future to make lifelong musicians whether they go on in music professionally or not.
